Janice Day - Screenwriter / Comedienne

BIOGRAPHY

Comedienne Janice Day is a commissioned screenwriter and the author of comedy cancer memoir GETTING IT OFF MY CHEST, about which Maurice Gran said, “normally I'd rather cut off a testicle than read a book about cancer. But I read your book and loved it. Funny, touching and true. I hope you get to turn it into a hit script."

Winner of the Sabotage Comedy Icon Competition for best stand-up comedian, she was runner up in the Windows Live Spaces Stand-up Comedian competition and audience favourite at the Absolute Moose end of Stand up and Deliver Comedy course at Edinburgh Fringe 2007.

Janice has been shortlisted for the UK Film Council’s 25 words or less competition and long-listed for the BBC 3 Last Laugh: End of Sitcom Competition. She was twice selected for the first round of TAPS and awarded MA fees by the Equity Trust Fund.

She has written several commissioned feature film screenplays and her production company All Change Productions is developing a slate of factual entertainment programmes, including one with Maverick Television.

Current writing projects include a collaboration with Raymond Allen - the writer of SOME MOTHERS DO 'AVE 'EM - and a feature-film adaptation of GETTING IT OFF MY CHEST is currently in development with Matthew Wilson at Island Pictures.
