The Runner aka Survival Island, aka Escape From... Survival Zone, is an action thriller set on a remote Canadian Island, and was the first movie produced out of the Living Spirit Pictures camp.

The story follows Jack Slater and his ace ENG news team when they decide to take a survival course after losing a crew member in action, who shot by terrorists in the Persian Gulf. A week on Survival Island sounds just the ticket. Once cut off from the mainland, and with the threat of nuclear war looming, Slater and his team begin to realise that the two retired commandos running the course aren't what they first appear to be... Slater and his team find themselves fighting for their lives... on Survival Island.

The Runner was shot in North Wales and in mines in the Cotswold area of England. It was successfully marketed and distributed throughout the world by EGM Film International. It stars Terence Ford, Paris Jefferson and Ivan Rogers.

The Runner was a baptism of fire for the Living Spirit team and formed the central backbone of the first edition of The Guerilla Film Makers Handbook.
